TEDxSMU 2010: Starting Now

Rapid Artists Exhibit Opening

TEDxSMU is partnering with SculptCAD's Rapid Artists program for the opening of an amazing art exhibit. Twelve Dallas artists have diverged from their typical mediums to learn to sculpt using digital sculpting programs, and the final renderings of their creations were subsequently produced using ground-breaking 3D printing processes in materials from bronze to plastic.

On September 14, the exhibit will open at One Arts Plaza with an evening event co-produced by TEDxSMU and SculptCAD. Please join us to see the exhibit and hear TEDxTalks from several of the artists involved with the project and visit with the artists one-on-one about the pieces and their inspiration.

TEDxSMU

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxSMU, where x = independently organized TED event.

TEDxSMU debuted in October 2009 with a half-day conference for 7th-9th grade students (TEDxKids @SMU -- the first of its kind) and a full-day adult version of the conference.

At our TEDxSMU events, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized. www.TED.com/TEDx
